A month is the cheapest published plan plus the published card rate on your orders. A plan priced per device or per site is multiplied by the boxes above; a plan with no unit stated is counted once per site. Hardware, VAT where a price excludes it and any charge a vendor does not publish are left out.

How the total is worked out

  1. The plan: each vendor's cheapest published plan, times your devices when it is priced per device, or your sites when it is priced per site.
  2. POS and kiosks: the published in-person card rate on every order, plus any fixed fee per payment.
  3. Online ordering, pre-orders, order and pay, pay at table: the published commission plus the online card rate, or the in-person rate when no online rate is published.
  4. Anything a vendor does not publish is never guessed: the row gives the part it can and names the part it cannot.

The rankings behind it

Cost questions owners ask

How much does an EPOS system cost a month in Ireland?

5 of the 10 systems on our EPOS system ranking publish a plan price. The cheapest entry plan is Square, no monthly fee; the dearest entry plan is Flipdish, from €119/mo, billed yearly. Card fees usually cost more than the plan. On the calculator's example of 2,000 payments a month at €15, the cheapest full total is SumUp POS at €507 a month.

What does each card payment cost?

Published in-person card rates on our EPOS system ranking run from SumUp POS at 1.69% to Square at 1.75%. 7 of 10 do not publish a card rate.

What is in the monthly total?

The cheapest plan each vendor publishes, multiplied by your devices or sites when the plan is priced that way, plus the published card rate or commission on the orders you enter, including any fixed fee per payment.

What is left out of the total?

Hardware, which is usually a one-off cost; VAT where a price excludes it; setup fees; and any charge a vendor does not publish. A row that is missing a part says which part.

Which plan does the calculator use?

Each vendor's cheapest published plan. A bigger plan may lower the card rate or add features, so open the vendor's page to compare its plans.

How are plans priced per device or per site counted?

A plan priced per device, till or terminal is multiplied by the devices box; one priced per location or site by the sites box. A plan with no unit stated is counted once per site.

Why does a system show "not published"?

Its own pricing or terms page did not state that part when we read it. Hover the cell or open the working to see which page was read and when.

Why is the cheapest system not always ranked first?

The ranking also scores how much of its pricing a vendor publishes and how easy its contract is to leave. A cheap system on a long contract can cost more to get out of than it saves.

Can I save or share my figures?

Yes. The page address keeps your figures as you type, and the copy link button copies it.

How up to date are these prices?

The figures on this page were read from the vendors' own websites between 9 Oct 2026 and 12 Oct 2026. Each one shows its date when you hover it, and the sources at the foot of the page list every page and date.
